In February, 2012, John Manning will be a featured artist at the International Brass Festival Isla Verde Bronces, in Isla Verde Bronces Argentina. Since 2007, this growing festival has brought together brass artists and professors from around the world, to perform and teach. In addition to masterclasses, concerts, and recitals, the festival features a composition contest. John will be giving a recital, conducting masterclasses, and performing with a faculty ensemble.
Additionally, he has commissioned the Argetinian composer Roberto Pintos to write a new work for tuba and piano, to be premiered at the festival. Other invited faculty include Paul Archibald (former Principal Trumpet of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London; Jacques Mauger (former Principal Trombone of the Paris Opera); and Frank Lloyd (Professor for horn at the Folkwang Hochschule, Essen, Germany, and President of the International Horn Society).
